Good Afternoon Slug Families –

Ready or not, Tuesday evening OFFICIALLY kicks off another Summer Swim Season with the start of evening swim team practices. As we get ready to kick this season off, we want to pass along various reminders, updates, and this week’s SSL Clinic Information. I know this weekend hasn’t felt like the start of summer, but thankfully after today temperatures make a quick run back close to 80 degrees for Tuesday.

Practice Schedule

Below is the pre-season evening practice schedule with practices held every weekday evening starting Tuesday, May 26th until Thursday, June 11th. There will be no evening practices on Monday, June 8th (8th Annual Blue-Green Meet) and Friday, June 12th (evening before first Saturday morning meet).

Below is the pre-season evening practice time schedule:

Li’l Slugs Program (separated out for safety due to usual large number of swimmers present)

• 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Competing Slugs

• 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm – Ages 8 & Under (Including Li'l Slugs)
• 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm – Ages 9-12
• 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Ages 13 & Older

The latest practice schedule information can be found on the Practice Information section of the Swimtopia website. Times and age groups may be adjusted to balance attendance. Coach Bryan will review with you if there is a need to move your individual swimmer between sessions.

Volunteer & Swimmer Sign-ups – Blue-Green Meet

Volunteer and swimmer registrations will open tomorrow morning, Monday, May 25th for the annual Blue-Green Meet that will be held on Monday, June 8th. All Swimmer RSVPs for the regular season meets will open on Saturday, May 30th.

Not sure about a particular job, want to learn more about Stroke & Turn officiating? Well, the Blue-Green meet is a perfect opportunity since this is an intra-squad meet our seasoned volunteers will be more than happy if you would like to shadow a position.

A reminder that for families with Competing Slugs, volunteering IS REQUIRED. When you completed the registration form you agreed to the requirement that each family must volunteer for at least four volunteer slots (meets, social events, EOY Banquet) during the season. 

Home meets take over 50 volunteer positions to successfully run, and every position is vital to the meet's operation.

Registration Deadline

Tuesday is the final registration day if you wish your Slug to receive their complementary T-Shirt for this season. Registrations made after 11:59pm, Tuesday, May 26th will not receive a T-Shirt due the printing lead time needed for us to have them prior to the first meet. The registration portal will remain open until Friday, June 5th.

Membership Requirement Reminder

All families MUST pay their annual swim club membership dues to be considered in good standing by SSL rules to be eligible to compete. If you have not yet paid your annual dues, please do so immediately. Families failing to do so will be contacted by the pool’s Membership Chair. Failure to bring your annual membership to good standing at that time will result in your swimmer(s) being prevented from participating in swim team functions until such time that you have reconciled any delinquencies.

Sponsorship Updates

Last call for sponsorship submissions to be included in this year’s T-shirt design. Any business wishing to sponsor needs to commit and submit artwork by Wednesday, May 27th to meet the printer’s cut-off date. Sponsorships received after this date are still entitled to the other benefits as outlined on our website (here)

Swim Cap Orders

Ordering for this year’s swim caps is now closed. The cost for the caps will be invoiced to your MemberSplash account once I reconcile the orders with the pool’s Treasurer. Please pay the invoice through that system.
